Bulgaria's dismal media

LAST time I was in Sofia I had an entertaining meeting with an impressive American official who pungently commented on the murky contours of money, power, crime and foreign influence in Bulgaria. As the meeting was "on deep background" and most of what was said would have risked an enormous libel suit from the people concerned I was unable to use it.
