Press vehicles torched in Montenegro

BELGRADE, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Two press vehicles owned by the Podgorica daily Vijesti were set ablaze and completely destroyed in the early hours on Thursday morning, the Montenegrin newspaper said.

Cars of Montenegro's Vijesti Set on Fire

In the latest attack on the independent Montenegrin daily newspaper, two of its vehicles were set on fire in Podgorica on Thursday.

Vijesti said unknown persons had poured gas on vehicles owned by the newspaper and then set them on fire.

OSCE: Macedonia Opposition Press "Practically Eliminated"

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, OSCE, has warned that lastweek’s closure of three pro-opposition newspapers for alleged unpaid taxes has virtually eliminated criticism of government from the press.

Kosovo: NGOs Condemn Attack on Journalist

Civil society groups have condemned an attack against a journalist in Mitrovica north, and Kosovo police say they have identified the suspect and are investigating.

Zeljko Tvrdisic, 33, editor of Radio Kontakt in Mitrovica north, reported the case to police around 4pm on Tuesday.
Tvrdisic told Balkan Insight that he was attacked because of his reports on the removal of illegal kiosks in town. According to Tvrdisic, the suspect owned several illegal kiosks in Mitrovica, an ethnically divided town in the north of Kosovo....more....
