Serbia President Boris Tadic shall try at meetings with world leaders in New York to get their support for the settlement of the current crisis at customs checkpoints with implementation of Ban-Ki-Moon’s plan from 2008, as sources close to Tadic confirmed to ‘Blic’. It is believed that would be just a beginning for the international community to recognize ‘the north as something special’ and an introduction to autonomy or even partition....more...

Bare-Handed Kosovo Serbs Battle NATO
By Vojin Joksimovich, Ph.D.
On September the 16th NATO forces, overstepping their UN Security Council (UNSC) mandates, amid tensions on the administrative border between Serbia and the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo, have fired the first shots at bare-handed Kosovo Serbs in the village of Zupce. The Kosovo Serbs have erected barricades, in a life or death situation, to defend themselves against the Muslim Albanian onslaughts which desire to forcefully incorporate northern Kosovo into the US/EU created Republic of Kosovo, an amputated province from the Republic of Serbia. The Albanian police, aided and assisted by NATO’s KFOR, have taken over two border crossings: Jarinje and Brnjak. The Albanian customs officers, aided and abetted by EU’s EULEX mission in Kosovo, have established their control over the border crossings....more...

Quiet, for now - The latest from Kosovo

the economist
Sep 18th 2011, 14:12 by T.J.

BELGRADE
AN UPDATE on the situation in northern Kosovo. On Wednesday, after visiting Kosovo, I wrote that it looked set for a "major clash". Indeed, a day later, at the Belgrade Security Forum, Boris Tadic, Serbia's president, said that “unilateral actions”—by which he meant anything done by the authorities in Pristina—could seriously endanger the peace and security of the whole region. That sounded pretty tough, but on Friday morning his bluff was called....more...

Yesterday was a peaceful day on the barricades. Citizens, in three shifts of eight hours each are on barricades to prevent anyone of the EULEX, KFOR or Kosovo police approach checkpoints by ground roads. At some roads, barricades are several meters high. Shortage of food is felt in all towns. The same case is with petrol. At all locations where Serbian population is neighboring with Albanians citizens are on guard 24 hours a day....more....

Less than a kilometer behind Jarinje checkpoint between Serbia and Kosovo workers were building a Serbian house brick by brick.
