Serbia arrests Mladic

26.05.2011 / 13:10 CET Arrest of Bosnian Serb former general expected to unblock Serbia’s bid to join EU.Ratko Mladi?, who is wanted by a United Nations tribunal on genocide charges, has been arrested by Serbian intelligence officers.
Boris Tadi?, Serbia’s president, announced the arrest in Belgrade today (26 May). Mladi? was arrested in the province of Vojvodina, in northern Serbia, early this morning.
Mladi? was the military commander of Bosnian Serb forces during the 1992-95 war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
EU bid
The arrest is expected to unblock Serbia’s bid to join the European Union, which had been held up by its failure to arrest Mladic....more....
