Montenegro's Luksic Attends Global Forum in New York

Montenegrin Prime Minister Igor Luksic took part in the inaugural meeting of the “Open Government Partnership”, hosted by US President Barack Obama and his Brazilian counterpart Dilma Rousek yesterday.

The partnership is comprised of eight founding governments- among them the UK, South Africa, US and Mexico- and aims to boost transparency and accountability among governments across the globe....more...

Montenegro to bury remains of German war dead

Germany and Montenegro have signed an agreement on burying the remains of German soldiers killed during World War II.
The agreement was reached during a visit to the Balkan state by the German Foreign Minister, Guido Westerwelle.
A site containing more than 400 bodies was excavated in Montenegro's capital Podgorica in 2007....more....

Montenegro PM Anticipates EU Membership by 2019

Montenegro Prime Minister Igor Luksic is hopeful that negotiations on the country’s EU accession will start early next year, paving the way for membership in the union before the end of 2019.

Five years after independence, Montenegro marks only measured success

 Montenegro can celebrate many major advances in the five years since its independence, including an economic boom and candidacy to become a member of the European Union; but it's not all peaches and cream.

Montenegro PM, Opposition Spar Over Census

Montenegro's prime minister has condemned leaks of alleged census results, which show that the number of Serbs in the country has increased since the last headcount in 2003.

Premier Igor Luksic condemned the leak of information by the leader of the opposition New Serb Democracy Party, Andrija Mandic. The party head said that the results of the census, which began on April 1, show that Serbs make up more than 35 per cent of the population, up by three per cent from the last population survey in 2003....more...
