In a new EDAM discussion paper titled “The United States and Turkey: Can They Agree to Disagree?” by Joshua J. Walker, recent condition of Turkey-US relations is analyzed. The concept of “model partnership” suggested by President Obama in his Turkey visit, and also his first overseas visit after becoming the president, is explored in the light of changing domestic dynamics of Turkey and the United States. Besides laying out the differences between American and Turkish administrations on foreign policy matters such as Israil or Iran, the paper also underlines the opportunites that both sides could benefit from better engagement with each other. ...more...
