A 52 year old Serb has been beaten by “unknown assailants” in Kosovo during his attempt to exchange a flat tire on his car.
The Medical Centre in Gracanica has announced that a Kosovo Serb was heavily beaten up on the Janjevo-Gračanica road while trying to fix his car with Serbian registration plates.
The Serbian man was beaten up by three individuals that swore at him in bad Serbian and told them they were beating him up because he is still using registration plates issued by Serbian authorities.
Kosovo is dominated by ethnic Albanian separatists who claim they are an independent state.
The attackers also kept telling him that Kosovo is an Albanian state.
The beaten man was left on the road to die but his attempt to call emergency failed because Albanian separatists have bombed all mobile cell phone towers.
The beaten man then managed somehow to reach the Medical Centre in Gracanica.
Separately, a mob of ethnic Albanian men gathered in front of Serbia’s Embassy in Tirana, Albania, where they were shouting obscenities demanding Kosovo’s independence.
The Albanian mob confronted the police while they were burning the Serbian flag.
The Albanian mob then threatened Serbian diplomats with death.
Serbia’s Ambassador to Albania Miroljub Zaric said that the situation in Tirana is calm at the moment, and the Albanian police have acted professionally by stopping the threat to property and lives of the employees in the Serbian Embassy.
The Ambassador said that the day before, another mob of Albanians, over 200 of them, was trying to gather at the Embassy.
The Ambassador said that there have been no official reactions of Albanian institutions and politicians, nor was the incident condemned.
