Dodik supports formation of Bosnian Croat entity

October 21, 2010 – 1:44 pm
Prime Minister of the Serb Republic, Milorad Dodik, met with the leader of the Croat party HDZ, Dragan Covic, on the right in the photo, and offered his support for the formation of a separate Croat entity out of the Bosnian Muslim Federation entity that is dominated by Muslims.
“What is definitively clear,” said Dodik “is that within the Federation of Bosnia, two additional federal entities could be form and we [Serbs] would not have anything against that.”
Covic said that Croats want a federal entity where Croats are in the majority so that they can protect themselves against the “voter engineering”.
Covic lead HDZ, the same political party that ruled in Croatia when Croats ethnically cleansed hundreds of thousands of Serbs.
Covic said that HDZ supports the territorial integrity of the Serb Republic saying that it is a “reality” and that Bosnian Muslims and Croats cannot decide anything about it.
EU President Herman Van Rompuy, however, said that EU wants a unified Bosnia and AFP is blaming Serbs by claiming that “hardliners remained entrenched in the Serb entity, casting a shadow over Bosnia’s EU ambitions.”
