Audio story: Freedom of speech respected in Kosovo?

When the University of Pristina's debate club sought to initiate discussions between students and political leaders last month, the university blocked the effort.

A debate between students and political officials on the problems and challenges at Pristina University and in Kosovo's educational system was cancelled late last month. Some see the move as evidence of an inadequate commitment to protecting freedom of speech in Europe's newest country.
The dean of the Faculty of Philosophy said it violates the statute of the University of Pristina to hold debates with political parties. But the university statute contains no such stipulation.
