Serbian police has arrested Serbian Orthodox Church’s former monk, Antonije Davidovic, who is a supporter of Bishop’s Artemije that the Serbian Orthodox Church has removed from Kosovo.
Davidovic’s arrest comes after Serbia has issued an international warrant for arrest of another monk from Kosovo, Father Simeon, who was Bishop Artemije’s secretary.
At Simeon’s extradition hearings, the Greek court ruled that Simeon is politically persecuted and granted him an asylum.
Davidovic was arrested by the police because he attempted to participate in the Church’s annual meeting that is being held.
The media says that Davidovic was arrested because Davidovic appeared at a meeting that was forbidden.
Media notes that Davidovic appeared in front of the Church building along with 40 other supporters of Artemije. The police arrested him under pretext that their assembly was not announced to the police.
Davidovic as removed from his position of a monk in May of this year. He served in the monastery of Crna Reka. He is accused of un-Christian conduct.
